What does excellence look like in manufacturing? At the Valley Industrial Association, we believe it starts with honest evaluation- and that is where the Benchmarking for Excellence Survey comes in.

This self-assessment tool helps member companies evaluate performance, uncover opportunities for growth, and align their teams around a shared commitment to improvement.    It's more than a checklist - it's a roadmap to operational excellence. 

And here's the spark: your completed survey can also become your official entry into the Spark Awards, VIAs annual celebration of outstanding achievement in Illinois manufacturing. 

What are the Spark Awards? 
In 1902, a group of forward-thinking manufacturers in Aurora, IL sparked a conversation that changed everything. 
Their goal? Unite with other industrial leaders to tackle shared business challenges.  The initial spark gave rise to the Valley Industrial Association (VIA) and we've been advancing manufacturing excellence ever since.

The Spark Awards carry this legacy forward by recognizing exceptional performance among our member companies in  six critical categories:

• Safety
• Social Responsibility,
• Workforce Development.

Winners are selected based on responses to the Benchmarking for Excellence Survey - our signature self-assessment tool available at viaspark.org.  Whether you shine in one category or all six, the Spark Awards celebrate those who lead by example and raise the bar for Illinois manufacturing.

When the award application period opens, your completed survey also becomes your official entry for SPARK Award consideration — but only if you opt in. Your responses remain confidential unless you are selected as a finalist.
