Growth Is Straining Your Systems, Not Just Your Team.
More orders, more customers, more people — and somehow more chaos. If you're quoting too much of the wrong work, watching margins tighten as you grow, or feeling like nothing moves unless you personally push it, the constraint usually isn't effort. It's the systems underneath the growth.
VIA Manufacturing Growth Systems is a structured, cohort-based training program that builds those systems — accountability, KPI visibility, customer diversification, and execution discipline — inside your own company, alongside three other manufacturers working through the same challenges. For eligible manufacturers with 10–200+ employees, it's grant-funded through Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) at your local WorkNet center — net cash cost $0* (employer match applies; see below).
Next cohort starts March 17, 2027
8 manufacturers and 25 participants took part in Cohort 1 in Kane & DuPage counties (one company sent four). 21 completed the survey, and 100% of those rated it Agree or Strongly Agree.
"The Growth Readiness Assessment isn't a test you pass or fail — it's a mirror. It points to the one constraint that, if you don't fix it, nothing else moves the needle this year. The surprise from our first cohort: three of eight companies landed on the exact same one — Capacity and Operations. Not ‘we can't find the work,’ it was ‘we can't execute the work we already have without it riding on two or three people.’ That's not a growth problem, that's a fragility problem, and it's exactly what this program fixes. If you're not sure what your constraint is, just call me."Ray Ziganto, Valley Industrial Association
Most Manufacturers Don't Have a Grit Problem. They Have a Structure Problem.
Customer concentration. Unclear growth direction. Broad quoting. Owner decision load. Capacity limits. Handoffs that stall between shifts and roles. None of these show up on a P&L until they've already cost you a customer, a margin point, or a good hire. VIA Manufacturing Growth Systems gives your leadership team a structured way to see these constraints early — and a shared language across the company to fix them.
Two Ways In. The Same Program Either Way.
Same curriculum, same cohort format, same Manufacturing Operational Leadership Certificate — the only difference is how it's funded.
Grant-Funded Cohort
For manufacturers with 10–200+ employees. VIA's curriculum is WorkNet-aligned and built to qualify for Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) grant funding through your local WorkNet center. VIA can help navigate the application process. If your application is accepted, your training cost is reimbursed through the grant.
Same Program, Direct Enrollment
For manufacturers who'd rather skip the IWT application process, or whose company isn't IWT-eligible. Identical curriculum, cohort format, and certificate — invoiced directly by VIA, with no application, approval, or employer match required. A typical company sends 3 participants.
*Employer Match, by Company Size
IWT grants require an employer match that scales with company size. For most companies, paid employee training time — properly documented — covers the match in full, with no additional cash outlay.
50 or fewer employees
51–100 employees
More than 100 employees
Your company's IWT eligibility, size tier, and match amount are confirmed through the WorkNet application and approval process before your cohort begins — VIA guides you through it.
What Cohort 1 Said
Kane and DuPage counties completed VIA Manufacturing Growth Systems' first cohorts in August 2026 — here's what 21 of 25 participants from 8 manufacturers told us afterward.
participants completed the survey — 100% rated overall satisfaction Agree or Strongly Agree, no neutral or negative ratings in either cohort
average likelihood to recommend in DuPage; Kane scored 8.5 / 10 on the same question
manufacturers completed Cohort 1 across Kane and DuPage counties
"I thoroughly enjoyed the program and Ray's knowledge to share with us. Honestly, I wouldn't change anything — it was always very informative, applicable, and entertaining frankly."PMA Friction Products, Kane County Cohort 1
"We covered topics crucial to sustaining and growing a business. We came out of this presenting our capstone project. The challenge to develop that project and the spreadsheet tool we used to test it ensured our time spent in the 8 sessions will 'stick.'"Tracy H-K, Kenyeri Engineering & Manufacturing, DuPage County Cohort 1
Three Phases. Eight Sessions. One Certificate.
Each cohort brings together 4 manufacturing companies — typically 3 participants each, about 12 total — through a hybrid delivery model.
Organizational Baseline & Readiness
Growth Readiness Self-Assessment, a leadership systems review, an operational accountability baseline, and Working Genius workforce alignment for each company.
Cohort Leadership Systems Development
8 facilitated sessions over roughly 8–9 weeks (about 2.5 hours each): business sustainability & direction, customer diversification, leadership communication & accountability, execution discipline, KPI visibility, workforce coordination & role clarity, 90-day implementation planning, and a capstone.
Guided Implementation
Mid-program checkpoints, peer accountability, facilitator coaching, and a capstone implementation presentation where each company shows what it built and put to use.
Built for Use, Not Just Insight.
This is training, not consulting — participants build and apply the tools themselves. Every company that completes the program walks away with:
- A completed KPI dashboard or scorecard, with metric owners and a review cadence
- A documented accountability cadence and issue/action tracker
- A customer diversification action list and opportunity-tracking method
- A Role Clarity Map, Handoff Rules, and a Team Coordination Plan for your team's cross-functional workflow
- A 90-day organizational action plan with owners, milestones, and measures
- The Manufacturing Operational Leadership Certificate, issued by VIA, for every participant who attends at least 6 of 8 sessions
Participant Mix
Owners, presidents, and general managers. Production leaders, line leads, and shift supervisors. Sales or business development leaders. Operations leaders and emerging leadership team members.
Three participants per company is intentional — the tools are less likely to sit with one leader and more likely to become how the company actually runs.
Three Steps to Join a Cohort
Start with the Growth Readiness Assessment.
Free and confidential. It identifies your biggest constraint and whether your company looks like a fit for a cohort.
Confirm your track.
IWT-funded — VIA can help navigate the application (FEIN/NAICS/UI documentation, Participant Detail Forms, Employee Wage Match Forms); if accepted, training cost is reimbursed through the grant — or direct-pay.
Join the next cohort.
The next cohort starts March 17, 2027. Cohorts run on a rolling schedule, 4 companies at a time. VIA will confirm your details once your track is set.

Common Questions
What is VIA Manufacturing Growth Systems?
VIA Manufacturing Growth Systems is a cohort-based operational leadership training program for small and mid-sized manufacturers, delivered in three phases over roughly 8–9 weeks, that builds accountability, KPI visibility, customer diversification, and execution-discipline systems and awards a Manufacturing Operational Leadership Certificate to participants who complete it.
Has anyone actually completed VIA Manufacturing Growth Systems yet?
Yes. Cohort 1 ran in Kane and DuPage counties in August 2026 with 8 manufacturers and 25 participants (one company sent four). 21 completed the post-program survey, and all 21 rated their overall satisfaction Agree or Strongly Agree, with an average likelihood-to-recommend of 8.5 out of 10 in Kane and 9.5 out of 10 in DuPage.
Is VIA Manufacturing Growth Systems free?
For manufacturers with 10–200+ employees, it can be. VIA's curriculum is WorkNet-aligned and built to qualify for Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) grant funding through your local WorkNet center, for a net cash cost of $0* — the employer match (10% at 50 or fewer employees, 25% at 51–100, 50% above 100) is typically covered by paid, documented employee training time, with no additional cash outlay. Manufacturers who'd rather skip the IWT application, or whose company isn't IWT-eligible, can join the identical program direct-pay at $6,000 per company, with no application, approval, or employer match required.
How is this different from the VIA Growth Accelerator?
VIA Growth Accelerator and VIA Manufacturing Growth Systems solve different constraints, and your Growth Readiness Assessment result tells you which one fits. If your primary constraint is Sales & Opportunity Management or Customer Mix & Revenue Quality — you need more of the right kind of pipeline, not more internal systems — Growth Accelerator's one-on-one consulting engagement is built for that. If your constraint is more internal — execution discipline, accountability, KPI visibility, capacity and operations, or workforce coordination — Manufacturing Growth Systems' cohort-based training is the better fit. Start with the Growth Readiness Assessment if you're not sure which applies to you.
What does my company need to provide for IWT-funded enrollment?
Eligible companies work with VIA to complete standard WorkNet IWT documentation, including employer FEIN/NAICS information, UI account details, Participant Detail Forms, and Employee Wage Match Forms. VIA coordinates this process with your local WorkNet center, with review and approval completed before your cohort start date.
Built for Manufacturers Across Northern Illinois
VIA serves small and mid-sized manufacturers across greater Chicago and Northern Illinois, with a primary focus on Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, DeKalb and Will counties. IWT grant funding is coordinated through the WorkNet center serving your company's location; the direct-pay track is open to manufacturers anywhere in VIA's footprint, regardless of WorkNet eligibility.
